My name is Leslie Smith. I love to create each custom cake by hand, using only the finest ingredients. Never will you find shortening or box mixes in my kitchen, and baking shortcuts are never used. This is a family run business & we wouldn't put anything out that we wouldn't serve at our own get-together's.
Baking has always been a passion of mine. Baking from scratch was a policy my grandmother Carmela instilled in my mother, which my mother then passed to me. A cake mix was considered a cop-out, a short cut and it show in the final product. Before you can create, you have to master flavor. It's pointless to have one without the other.
As a young adult, I was working for a catering company that serviced most of Utah. I watched in awe at that construction of the beautiful wedding cakes they created. I finally asked to try my hand at one of their orders. That was all it took to know that this is what I'm meant to do! After 4 years of baking for family, friends and referrals, Simply Sweet Cakes & Treats was established in early 2010!
